Royal Canin Canine Veterinary Diet Renal Rf 16
Provides dietary support in chronic renal failure including early renal failure. Renal Canine should be fed for the pet's lifetime. Regular veterinary checks are advised.
Dogs with renal failure have a reduced appetite so highly palatable food is essential. Canine Renal kibble is easily crunched even by dogs with oral pain. Dogs with renal failure are often elderly: Renal Canine has a very high antioxidant content to neutralise free radicals, the negative effects of which increase with age.Renal Rf 16 Key Benefits
Urinary S/O Canine effectively dissolves Struvite uroliths. An acidic urinary pH is unfavourable to the development of bacteria, which are frequently associated with Struvite uroliths.
Diluting urine decreases the urinary concentration of struvites and calcium oxalates. The larger urinary volume also ensures regular bladder wash-out.
Under saturated urine is an environment where crystals cannot proliferate. Thus the urine is unfavourable to the development of both Struvite and calcium oxalate crystals.
In chronic renal failure (CRF), the kidneys are no longer able to properly eliminate phosphorus. Limiting the dietary phosphorus intake is an essential part of nutritional support.
Flavanols (a particular type of green tea polyphenol) have two major actions: they neutralise free radicals and help maintain renal perfusion.
Magnesium is a component of Struvite (magnesium ammonium phosphate) uroliths.
A higher intake of long chain omega 3 fatty acids (EPA, DHA) helps to maintain the glomerular filtration rate.
Increased uraemia may induce the development of gastric and intestinal mucosal ulcers. The combination of zeolite with FOS helps protect the mucosae.
Renal is for the nutritional support of dogs in cases of:
- Chronic renal failure (CRF)
- Reduction of recurrence of urolithiasis requiring urine alkalinisation: urate and cystine uroliths
- Reduction of formation of oxalate stones in dogs with impaired renal function
Not recommended in cases of:
- Pregnancy, lactation, growth
- Pancreatitis or history of pancreatitis
- Hyperlipidaemia
Royal Canin Veterinary Diet - Renal RF 16 - 2kg
Benefits:
CKD dietary management Formulated to support renal function in case of chronic kidney disease. Contains EPA and DHA, a complex of antioxidants and a low phosphorus level. During CKD, phosphorus is no longer eliminated effectively by the kidneys. A restriction in phosphorus intake is essential to slow down the development of renal disease. Feeding a diet with adapted fish oil (source of EPA/DHA) content is likely to improve the glomerular filration rate.
Reduces renal workload
Inadequate kidney workload may induce uremic crisis. An adapted content of high quality protein helps reduce kidney workload. Feeding protein well in excess of the minimum requirements leads to generation of nitrogen waste products, which accumulate in body fluids when renal excretory capacities are reduced.
Metabolic equilibrium
Chronic kidney disease can lead to metabolic acidosis. Formulated with alkalinizing agents. The kidneys are central to the maintenance of acid base balance. As renal function declines, the capacity to excrete hydrogen ions and reabsorb bicarbonate ions is reduced and metabolic acidosis ensues.
Appetite preference
Designed aromatic profile helps answer to dog’s specific preference. Appetite issues, food aversion, anorexia, hyporexia, are quite common during CKD.
