How long does Frontline take to work?
Frontline starts working once the product has spread over the whole body surface, which can take up to 24 hours after application. Thereafter, fleas are killed within 24 hours and ticks killed within 48 hours.
How does Frontline work?
Once applied, Frontline is stored in the sebaceous glands in your dog’s skin and spreads over the whole body surface with their natural oils. Fleas and ticks are killed through contact with your dog’s skin and coat so they do not need to bite to be killed. This topical defence kills parasites on contact, without the need for them to bite to be killed. Frontline kills fleas by affecting their nervous system, making them hyperactive before dying. These dying fleas often rise to the top of the pet’s coat and bounce, so if you feel like you may be seeing fleas more after treatment, it could actually be a sign that the product is working.
How long does Frontline last?
For optimal protection from fleas and ticks with Frontline, you should treat your pet every 4 weeks.
How often should you apply to a dog Frontline?
Frontline is effective for 4 weeks. For optimal protection from fleas and ticks with Frontline, you should therefore apply Frontline to your dog every 4 weeks.
Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 90 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control
